Our Family Study Abroad Program in Portugal is more than just a trip—it’s an educational family travel experience where you can spend quality time with your loved ones, share learning experiences, and explore new places together.

From surfing lessons to exploring the cliffs of Algarve, your family will have plenty of opportunities to bond, learn, and have fun.

What’s Available in Our Family Study Abroad Program?

  • Share community spaces while still having your own private living areas.
  • Interact as much or as little as you want or need to (sometimes it changes)!
  • Share weekly meals with a taste of international cuisine. (optional)
  • Have our kids or teens play or hang out together daily or weekly as desired.
  • Share learning experiences and activities together (a sort of worldschooling co-op).
  • Participate in Portuguese language lessons. (optional, additional cost)
  • Have weekly discussions and 'devotionals' (optional -- our family's term for a time of learning & discussing).
  • Feed the animals on the property. (optional)
  • Do jobs and chores on the mini ‘farm’ (15 acres) — weeding, building structures, painting, etc. (optional)
  • Go to the beach or paddleboarding.
  • Explore the gorgeous cliffs and caves of the Algarve (the name of Southern Portugal).
  • Take surf lessons along the stunning Portuguese coastline. (optional, additional cost)
  • Go out on double or triple dates with other couples! (Optional. Babysitting available.)
  • Travel to nearby sites and cities in Portugal like Lisbon, Porto, or Seville, Spain. (optional)
  • Educational study abroad field trips to historical sites (like to the site where Columbus launched the Nina, Pinta, & Santa Maria and see life-size replicas of his ships!) (Optional, on your own or coordinated with other families)

We've been traveling the world as a family for the past 18 years to nearly 60 countries on five continents.

UPPER FLOOR APARTMENT FOR FAMILIES

This apartment is on the third floor and has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, one en suite. There is not yet a living room or dining area, nor a kitchen.

You will have access to a shared kitchen, living and dining area on the second level, and/or a commercial kitchen on the ground level.

It sleeps up to 7 people in a king, two queens, and one single.

BALCONY APARTMENT

This apartment is our family's home.

It is ONLY available in SOME months when we are traveling and accepting pet sitters.

It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en suite), and a private kitchen and balcony.

It sleeps 7 people on a king, one single, two doubles, and a couch bed.
